Pep Guardiola picks up his first trophy as Man City boss

pep guardiola, Man City, Manchester City, Arsenal, Carabao

There was a clear favorite right from the time everyone knew about this match up. And boy, did they deliver. Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City side clearly didn’t come to muck about. They came with only one thing on their minds, a win. They were simply devastating and absolutely ruthless in attack. The Carabao Cup is surely the first of many for Pep’s Man City side.

Sergio Aguero has always been a big Arsenal tormentor and still showed how much he loves playing this fixture by kicking things off with a clinical finish to break the deadlock. By the way, did you know he had never scored in a major final for Manchester City or Athletico Madrid until now? Yeah, the killer striker we’ve all come to fear. The captain, Kompany, and David Silva put things to bed with their goals in the second half.

City did not actually even have to come out full power and all guns blazing like they usually do to dispatch this lackluster, depressing Arsenal side. Basically, Arsene Wenger’s side was overwhelmed by Man City mediocrity. We think it’s safe to say Wenger time’s up surely. As in, the Emirates needs some freshness injected back into it. These guys just seem bland and a little stale these days. It was painful to watch.

The only setback city had was the loss of Fernandinho to a hamstring injury, which looks set to keep him off the field for some time and being one of Pep’s key midfielders, they might find it difficult to replace him. However, if there’s one team in the Premier League that has the depth to overcome such setbacks it’s Manchester City.

Kudos and congrats to Pep Guardiola and his boys at the Etihad. We’re sure there’s probably still much more to come. For the Gunners and their fans, we think you guys should mobilize and just organize to take that Wenger homy out. That seems like the only way my guys, because it seems like the board won’t do it.
