Christmas is upon us yet again and we all know what that means in Nairobi, or rather Kenya at large. The month of excess and over-indulgence, most especially with matters involving alcohol…or drank. Style up your favorite drinks this holiday season with these 3 simple Christmas cocktail recipes.
- EASY EGGNOG
(Recipe serves 8-10)
What you’ll need for this recipe is a container of any vanilla ice-cream, 500 ml of any rum or whiskey of your choice (this will vary depending on how strong you’d like your eggnog cocktail to be), and 13 tablespoons of nutmeg.
Microwave the ice-cream for about 3 minutes or just until slightly melted. Once done, slowly stir in your nutmeg and alcohol then whisk it until combined. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours before service however the longer it stays the better it gets but not more than 24 hours.
- IRISH COFFEE
(Recipe serves 1)
With this Christmas cocktail, you’ll need 1 cup of any hot coffee of your choice, a tablespoon full of brown sugar, about two shots or 50 ml of Jameson Irish whiskey and some whipped cream.
Pre-heat a mug or glass by pouring very hot water into it. Pour about ¾ of your hot coffee into the preheated mug then stir in your whiskey and brown sugar. Top of your glass with the whipped cream.
- GRAPE, GIN AND ROSEMARY BLEND
(Recipe serves 4)
Here you’ll need about half a cup of sugar, fresh sprigs of rosemary, two cups of any grape juice of your choice, one cup of Gilbey’s gin, half a cup of soda water/club soda, a quarter cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and some few grapes for garnish.
Put the sugar, rosemary and about half a cup of water into a saucepan and then boil for about 10-15 minutes. Remove, cool then refrigerate the syrup for about 10 min. Mix all the other ingredients in a jug then stir until fully combined.
